CLASS ON TUES., 21 OCTOBER - will be in the Streaming Lab in the LRC. Go to front entrance of library (across from Patton Hall parking lot), take a right through double doors and you'll be facing the entrance to the library computer lab. Don't enter there. Take a left down the hall and go into the third door on the right. You'll see a room full of computers. That's where we'll be.

When Shannon came to my office the other day, she told me that her blogger user name is "aries14" not "aries04," which is what I used. I finally just fixed the link to Shannon's blog and I got caught up reading all her stuff, which I missed reading all semester. Shannon, you really do have the choice to read your writing or not. A lot of people make the choice not to read. I'd love to hear your words. Whether or not you share them in class is absolutely up to you. Guess I'd say to you: Take a chance! Take a big breath, and then just read.
Jermisha came into class late this morning and asked me, "Have you read my blog yet? Cuz it explains why I'm late." That's gotta be a poststructuralist moment if I ever had one. I realized that I really like having this long list of student blogs linked on the right side. I sit down and read them all. Just click on a blog, read it, click on the back arrow, then read the next one. And by the way, "Hey, Julie!!!" Great to hear your voice on this blog again. I actually didn't do too much to the appearance...just changed colors a bit. But I think I was able to add a lot more students' blogs from the last time you posted. Who knows...time is definitely more elastic the older I get. I gotta tell ya, Julie, I just read these pieces in Oprah about aging and Anne Lamott has a piece, which I loved. They had short articles by women of different ages...24, 32, 38, 49 and on...and Anne Lamott wrote the one for the 49 yr old. She talks about "radical acceptance" and about being "militantly maternal" with herself. I love that phrase...militantly maternal.
I haven't read all the blogs yet, and I haven't even checked Jermisha's. I've had a couple students for office hours, but mainly I've got to work on a power point presentation for Black Poetry Day. I don't even know how to do power point, so I'm thinkin' I'll learn really really quickly.
